"Your task for Day 1 of our 30 Days to a Better WoMan Project is to discover, clearly define, and write down your core values. Before we begin, let’s be clear that we’re not trying to define goals here. Goals are specific actions, like “becoming financially independent by age 30″ ..... What we are looking for are values: the ideas that you esteem to be of great worth and that give structure to your life."The Work:
Honesty
in today's society its all about what people think. They think for you on what to wear, what to say and how to act. With all that we forget on being honest to ourselves and others. When someone asks you "Does that dress make me look Fat?" and it does, don't be a Face friend, and let them know. Be honest to each other. Honesty is most of the time not pretty, but its well needed. I catch myself more often lately that i say something nice rather then being honest. and what do i get out of it? Nothing! Its that wonderful saying "if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all". Well screw that saying, how about you say what on your mind and don't care if the other person likes the answer or not.
Honesty is a value that is almost forgotten or ignored. Let face it, we are all spending 1-3 hrs a day surfing the Internet (mostly at work or in company of a Spouse of Friend). Now how honest is that to your employer and friends. Its important to bring back honesty into my live. Because if i can't be true to myself how can i be honest to others.
Financial Stability
Thru my life i had some important decisions to make and those cost me a lot of money. either financially or emotionally. financially in the last 5 years I had to pay over $40,000.00 Cash on medical and other major expenses. Throw a Divorce in the mix and I am pretty much +/- $0.00. Because of that i was never able to Start a nice savings account. and I know with being Single i should have a Backup. So i need to work on having at least 2-3 Month of Financial Backup. It would take a large burden of my shoulders. I refuse to be depended on anyone financially. so in order for that to happen i need to stick to my budget.
And its not that i don't have a great budget. I love Math and making lists. My problem is sticking to this budget. Here is why: Deal are drawn to me. and no i am not making this up. When I'm speaking deals, I'm talking about those that come around once in a lifetime deals. I'm talking brand new "Maytag Front load Washer and Dryer for $200 Deals","$1000 Scuba Set Up for around $100" and "$1500 New Custom Sleeper Sofa with Spring Mattress for $25". And because i can not say NO to those deals, due to the fact i know i will not come across one again. I need to Focus on what is a "Want" and a "Need". Pick 2 Hobbies and stick with them. and one hobby has to be a free one :-) If i can major on sticking to my budget for 9 month - 1 year. I will be Financial Stable and can concentrate on building a Financial Platform for the future.
Peace of Mind
"Less is more" Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Maybe i will start with not only Decluttering my Personal life. My thoughts and my Place. Because of those phenomenal Deals that i always get i have quiet the collection of great items. I need to sell those to Ebay and actually make some money of them.
Declutter my thoughts and focus on whats important. what makes me happy and what makes me tick, that way i know what triggers it. Take an hour each week to meditate and relax. That way I can declutter my thoughts which will lead me to a better focus on life. and the better i can focus on whats important the better i will be balanced.
Adventure
i live for thrills, i have adapted multiple hobbies. from roller derby, skydiving, wakeboarding, motorcycles to scuba diving and fourwheeling. I mentally refuse to grow old and need that thrill to keep me going. problem is that all those thrills cost not only money but i own all the equipment. adventures are the things that keep me sane in my 9-5 cubical job. I once took a personality test that told me i don't need to master a hobby, just learn enough to keep me happy then move to the next one. maybe that's true. Adventures what keep me physically and mentally on point.
Accomplishments
Uhh yes that 5 years tattoo I've been working on. I need to learn to stick with things and FINISH them. For instance my tattoo. its about another 16 hrs and then it will be completed. and its those things that i truly need to finish. I can be a big procrastinator and i need to work and getting things done. because its the little accomplishments in live, that make you feel the pad on the back.
The Conclusion:
